Green Day
Revolution Radio
Reprise Records

By Jeff Mozey

Green Day Revolution Radio - Metallica By Jeff MozeyRevolution Radio, the 2016 studio album from Green Day and is exactly what fans can expect from the band. Catchy and well written songs by singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, with heavy support from drummer Tre Cool and Bassist Mike Dirnt, flow track to track. In comparison to other albums in the bands catalogue, Revolution Radio is in part, reminiscent of 21st Century Breakdown as well as the previous album trilogy of ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré!.

To dive right into the highlights of the album, "Bang Bang " is definitely a stand out track and is possibly the most aggressive Green Day song to ever come out. The track talks about the mass shootings that take place in America and does not hold back on the attitude that is Green Day.

My personal Favorite has to be "Young Blood." The song goes right into the most melodic chorus of the track and the verses compliment the chorus very nicely. With the chanting style of vocals, I could see how this could be a great one to play live.

The final track on Revolution Radio is a stripped down acoustic song called "Ordinary World." This song is a highlight, due to the solo acoustic nature of the song. It stands out on its own. I am sure many people can relate to the topic of living in an ordinary world. Another fun fact is that the song was originally written for a movie that Billie Joe starred in called, Ordinary World.

Some Green Day listeners who are only familiar with the pre American Idiot albums might write off Revolution Radio because it does not sound like the groups "older stuff."  But I think if you have been following Green Day throughout their career, you will enjoy this release from the band.
