Washington’s hard rock outfit Queensryche is currently on the road with “The Verdict Tour” in support of their latest 2019 studio offering “The Verdict”.

For those that might be unaware, Queensryche formed in 1980 out of Bellevue, WA with the original lineup that consisted of guitarists Michael Wilton and Chris DeGarmo, drummer Scott Rockenfield, bassist Eddie Jackson, and lead vocalist Geoff Tate. Now, 40 years later in 2020, one might question their ability to perform, well, have no fear, the band is still as solid as they were back in their younger days.

The concert was held at the House of Blues in Dallas, Texas on January 25, 2020 with support from the incomparable John 5 who has performed with Rob Zombie and Marilyn Mason and he has also been involved with David Lee Roth of Van Halen on a solo project. Hoping that comes out soon. Opening act, Eve To Adam was a sight to be seen and was great to see fans of all ages, young and old packed the venue.

Queensryche hit the stage at 10pm sharp and kicked off their set with the song “Prophecy” a classic number from their 1984 album “The Warning”. Fans sang along with lead vocalist Todd La Torre who took to the stage full of energy and proudly wearing a “Straight Outta Texas” T-shirt. You gotta love that!

The setlist was a perfect mix of the bands works. They came out of the gates strong performing such classics as "Operation: Mindcrime", "Walk In The Shadows", "Resistance", "Take Hold Of The Flame" and "No Sanctuary" before they began performing some of the new tracks like "Man The Machine" and "Bent" from their recent release.

Everyone in the band was on their 'A' game and halfway into their set, they rolled into “Silent Lucidity”. The crowd roared with excitement but then an eerie silence followed for at brief moment when the vibe leveled somewhat more intimate. The audience began to echo the lyrics out loud as the chorus began.

As “Silent Lucidity” came to an end, the band came right back in full heavy force by following up with the 1990 classic “Jet City Woman”. People went crazy! Energy level in the venue hit the HOB roof at this point and after a few more tracks the show was over. Or was it?

In true rock n roll fashion, Queensryche came back to the stage to perform an encore. They ended the night with the songs “Light-Years”, “Empire” and “Eyes Of A Stranger” before saying goodbye. This was a performance that felt very rewarding to all the fans that attended. I highly recommend seeing them on tour and definitely check out their latest album “The Verdict” available now.
