Lillian Axe

Giving A Little Love Back To The Fans

A perfect setting for the Lillian Axe concert took place August 1st at Gas Monkey Bar & Grill for another great Free Concert Series. With the full moon shining brightly behind the stage and the warm Texas night all around, the outdoor GMBG venue is by far a crowd favorite. Veterans on the music scene, the New Orleans based rock band, Lillian Axe has had a good following in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex area and tonight, the dedicate followers were in for a treat.

With many band member changes throughout their 26 year history, their fans have remained loyal to the music. The current line up consists of original member Steve Blaze on lead guitar and backing vocals, vocalist Brian Jones, Chris Brown on bass guitar, Sam Poitevent on guitar and vocals, and of course the ladies favorite, Ken Koudelka on drums. One thing you can say about Lillian Axe is their charisma and stage presence always shines through and it shows not just in their performance but also in their camaraderie. Keeping it fun and keeping it real makes for a great show!

Kickin' off with "Misery," Lillian Axe came on strong and grew stronger with such songs like; "Death Comes Tomorrow" from their album XI: The Days Before Tomorrow and title track "Waters Rising" were a few warm ups that led to what would be the highlight of the evening, performing their classic 1989 second LP release Love + War which they played in its entirely.

They closed out the night with a few more well loved favorites "Babylon," "Nobody Knows," "True Believer," and "Deepfreeze." Quite a performance by indeed!

As an added touch, the band mingled with the fans after the show to show their appreciation for their dedication! Rock On!
