American jazz master percussionist Billy Cobham is currently touring the USA with hisCrosswinds Project, which was on full display at Harlows in Sacramento on September 18, 2022.
Cobham opened his set with his 1974 classic "Crosswind", taking the fans back to his early roots and continued his performance by playing his Crosswinds LP in it's entirety. The soft and melodic "Spanish Moss" was a real treat, with a Scott Tibbs on keyboards having his keyboardsfill in for the horns and brass used on the Crosswinds recordings.
The highlight of the evening as the band performed "Stratus" a mesmerizing jazz fusion number from Billy's 1973 debut album Spectrum! Mark Whitfield on guitar totally nailed the Tommy Bolin solo and then some! For his encore Cobham performed a real crowd pleaser "Red Baron" another great number from the Spectrum LP.
Billy Cobham is working his way east from California and concludes his US tour on October 23 in Pennsylvania. Checkout his website https://billycobham.com/ for complete tour info and other info.
