You’re In Luck!
Willie Nelson had a party, at his home, Luck, Texas, and invited a few thousand of his friends. This day is known as Luck Reunion.
If you were lucky enough to have scored a rare ticket, you were not disappointed. A myriad of assorted eats, soft goods, and the best in homegrown Texas style talent, was served all day. Best of all, was the cloudy, cool day, thanks to Mother Nature.
There was so much about the atmosphere that you could find endearing. For me, it had to be the smell of worn leather, herb, and patchouli. This reunion made you want to throw down a blanket and soak up the vibe knowing that this moment would be branded onto your soul.
The four stages, all within a short walk of one another, provided multiple listening experiences. The chapel, one of my favorite spots, consistently had a line out the door. It was nostalgic to sneak a peak of Ray Wylie Hubbard or Margo Price crooning through the worn out, aged glass. There is something organically spiritual about hearing music bleeding through the panes of an old chapel, even if it was built originally for the Red-Headed Stranger movie set. Rumor has it, there’s an Easter Service there, every year, to satisfy the Nelson’s tie with “old time religion”.
We spent most of our day at the main stage, which hosted great acts such as Aaron Lee Tasman, Particle Kid, (Micah Nelson), Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real, Kurt Vile, & Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. At some point, Ray Benson, of Asleep At The Wheel, joined the mix, with a great guitar solo, with Lukas singing “Texas Flood”.
The Nelson Family musical tapestry, hosted by Willie and Sister Bobbi on piano, broke into “Will The Circle Be Unbroken”, to close the day.
Don’t miss out on such a moving, musical journey, next year! Tickets are sold on a rolling basis, via several “pop-up” sales, leading up to the event. Also, purchase codes, for a max of 2 tickets, are sent exclusively to Luck Reunion subscribers. Sign up, at Luck Reunion, for next year’s ticket blessing.
See you next time…if you’re Lucky!
