Guitar God Jeff Beck performed at Hard Rock Live in Wheatland, California on November 10, 2022 to a very enthusiastic fan base. This was the next to last show for Jeff Beck on his 2022 US Tour, featuring the infamous Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp as his special guest. Beck opened the show with a vintage classic "Freeway Jam" which got the sold out crowd of 2,600 up on their feet and rockin'. He rolled into several tunes from his past works as well as the Robert Johnson classic "Me And The Devil Blues". During "You Know You Know" (a classic from Mahavishnu Orchestra), Beck turned Rhonda Smith on bass and Anika Nilles on drums lose allowing them to highlight their skills and playing abilities. Beck's "Cause We ended As Lovers" was a real crowd pleaser.
After showing some amazing fret work on "Brush With The Blues" Beck said: "I can use some help" to the crowd, to which Johnny Depp walk onstage as the band broke into the all time power cord progression "Rumble" by Link Wray. During "Rumble" Depp seemed to feed off Jeff Beck's notoriety as one of the greatest on guitar, while Beck seemed to feed off Depp's notoriety of notoriety. They then proceeded to play tunes from the Jeff Beck/Johnny Depp album: 18 (which was released in August) with Depp providing vocals on John Lennon's "Isolation" and The Velvet Underground ''Venus In Furs". For his last song, Jeff Beck performed a very emotional "Day In The Life" (a dedication to George Harrison).
For his encore, Jeff Beck performed an instrumental version of "Little Wing (probably the most covered tune by Jimi Hendrix). All in all Jeff Beck was in fine form, however Johnny Depp seemed to be a bit of a distraction for Beck and his band. Sadly this may be the last tour of the US for Jeff Beck being that he turned is 77 earlier this year.
