Atlanta, Georgia sludge and prog metal masters Mastodon stopped by the Houston, TX area - specifically Cactus Music and Fitzgerald's - to spread the word (and their charm) about the newly released album The Hunter. These dudes aka guitarists Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher, bassist and vocalist Troy Sanders, and drummer Brann Dailor, have been hitting it hard since they formed in 1999. During the past 12 years, they have released three EPs, two compilation discs, a live recording and five albums.

The band appeared to be humbled by the outpouring of fans that jammed into Cactus music to greet the band. A lot of records were sold, memorabilia sold, and pictures taken. The band was appreciative of everyone that paid their respects. They were even more surprised by the amount of older material fans brought with them to get signed.

Later that night Mastodon rocked out Fitzgerald's. They didn't waste any time with fancy intros. Brann Dailor walked straight out to his drum set and within three seconds the show was on. The band revisited older material, but also made sure to throw in several of their new songs. The crowd was definitely in to this hard rocking show that didn't slow down. The audience never had time to take a deep breath either. The band is going a full-scale U.S. tour in 2012. Don't miss it!
