The evening was like no other as the VIP's concert attendees filed into the famed Arcada Theatre and ushered into the newest addition to this 1926 era venue "Rocking Ravioli" Restaurant. With a live pre-show interview Q&A; with the star of the evening, Orianthi took a question from the audience "which songs are the most challenging?" which she replied, "Trying to remember the lyrics from her own songs". From a short Q&A; to the live show that followed.
Opening the show was John Corabi (Motley Crue/Dead Daisies vocalist) with a solo acoustic set that consisted of a mix of his original material as well as some familiar covers. He also touched on some Dead Daises songs to wrap up his set.
With a short break between sets, Orianthi hits the stage with ILLUMINATE and LIGHT IT UP of her Rock Candy LP, then into a BB KING tune NEVER MAKE YOUR MOVE TOO SOON.
She weaved her way through YOU DON'T WANNA KNOW, WHAT'S IT GONNA BE from the Believe It LP, HEAVEN IN THIS HELL, then a nod to her time with MICHAEL JACKSON with BLACK OR WHITE. She turned the page back to some vintage SANTANA that flowed from her finger tips as if Carlos himself were there with EUROPA and SOUL SACRIFICE which cemented that she is indeed one of the great guitarists of our time.
Putting down her Paul Reed Smith guitar and picking up a beautiful Red Gibson Acoustic, she again showed her versatility and musical interests. She played a few teasers after which she said "We're going heavy now" to close out the evening with a few numbers such as; CONTAGIOUS, THINK LIKE A MAN DAMN FOOL, HOW DO YOU SLEEP and of course VOODOO CHILD by Jimi Hendrix! "Can't leave without some Hendrix".
Orianthi's pure class, elegance and beauty disguise as a monster guitarist that will steal your soul before the evening is done.
